Working on my To Do List, sipping coffee. Decided blogging and yoga sequencing would be more fun. Listening to one of my all time favorite songs, Too Much Time on My Hands, by Styx. Oh, this song brings back lots of good memories. Very amusing video IMHO.
I’m working on a class concept, “Powerful Stretch”. I know I want each class to start and end in a comfortable seated position (of course with a final twist and savasana at end). This comfortable position would ideally be Padmasana/lotus pose. I recognize a lot of people can’t sit in lotus. But everyone can try! And it is accessible, with diligent practice. Comfortable cross-legs are a great modification to start you down the road toward Lotus 🙂
Here it is:
The initial Padmasana allows you to connect with your body, see where the tightness lies. My Powerful Stretch class would be held in a hot room ideally. 25-30 minutes of a hard Power style workout followed by 30 minutes of intense stretches accompanied by music. In final Padmasana, the yogi can recognize the difference class has made on the body alone. There will be a few arm balances and inversion work interspersed. A true multi-level class – great for the student that is working up the courage to try Power yoga. I’m having a lot of fun thinking of sequencing possibilities, experimenting on myself 🙂
Taking Yang at 10 a.m. Truly stoked! I will post some pictures later. Off to meditate. Procrastinating my to do list perhaps but I know I’ll be far more productive and centered if I just take the time now. Have a beautiful day 🙂
