Happy Independence Day!

A perfect first July 4th in ABQ. I taught two yoga classes – Exhale at 7:45 and Vivify at 11 a.m.  Both classes were so much fun!  I threw out some unusual postures today.  It can be ever so fun to do that but you do risk frustrating the students if you do too much unfamiliar stuff in a single class.  I think I kept the balance about right.

We got the flow going with some vinyasa – Sun salutations, Warrior I/II triangle/ reverse triangles and warriors.  Then we shifted to fundamental arm balancing with crow and elephant (after playing with some hip openers like Pigeon).  Worked on Dolphin and preparation for Pinchamayurasana/forearm balance.  Standing leg, poses and then time for free form inversions and backbends. I  like to have the class doing the same thing for the majority of the time but it is really fun to be given some freedom in the yoga room when you are good and warmed up 🙂

I was really happy with how both classes went.  Then I came home and promptly crashed for an hour. I was beat!  Teaching yoga is the best thing – so rewarding, fun, challenging.  But boy!  Two classes back to back with little time for hydration is a physical challenge.

Some friends invited us over to their house in a few hours.  So just trying to recharge.  I am pretty happy to not be entertaining honestly….
