Today, not so lazy

I had literally one of the most intense and difficult workouts today that I can truly recall.

Day 7 of classes at The Ashram (ok there were 1100 others but they were 2 years ago).  I wanted to do to a double, but I am NOT ready for that.  I may be dumb, but I ain’t stupid.

Outside the studio…..

Inside the studio (pre-class, way too gross afterwards to take any today!)

In a few ways, it is getting easier to practice there, but mostly more challenging; I’m starting to get back into my groove (the operative word being “starting”).  I still have to take breaks that I rail against (but having a “Mature Practice” I refuse to puke in the room). I did have an extremely light-headed moment before I took on Camel, but when I stopped seeing gray, I enjoyed a nice Camel followed by one of my all-time favorites, that being Wheel.

I forgot how fun it is to have near every muscle in your body tremble & threaten to cramp up in a 110 degree uber-humid environment.  With your mentor critically watching your form. Offering spectacular verbal cues to an entire room, but you know when he is reading your mind specifically.  But he was also very positive, sees that I’m working hard.  And all the while conjecturing if I live in Tallahassee, Texas, or Kalamazoo.  Gotta love that man. He dishes it out to me when no one else will, and very insightfully.  I’m grateful he trained me.  I’m grateful for the studio.  I’m really excited to think where I could get in the next month. I *think*I feel some tone seeping up through my school-destroyed body.  Or it could be an acute case of SOMS (DOMS is delayed onset muscle soreness, this is certainly Sudden and NOT delayed ONSET, if that is the case). I hope it is just my muscles getting strong, in case I take them back into that environment.

It was truly an awesome experience. I plan on going back tomorrow morning to do it again.  Assuming I can physically walk down the stairs to leave Bestie’s house and get there.  I’ve a month unlimited pass and only until April to see what I could make of this body on my teaching sabbatical.  I am chomping at the bit to get back to my classes, my NM friends, but this is a good thing for me to plug into my own mat.  Watch out NM, the chair holds are gonna be longer than you expect from me.  🙂
