Urdva Dhaurasana – Wheel Pose

Wheel is a childhood favorite. I continue to be blessed with a pretty darn flexible spine, and love teaching and practicing this pose. This post is near and dear to my heart, as in a few days it will be the Pose of the day for the first Vivify Instagram Challenge #vivifylucky17.  My beloved studio in Rio Rancho NM.  I’m up to bat, so to speak on leading this pose.  A pose that so many people rule out.  I’ve seen so many people learn to love it over the years…..

So I’m mulling over how to make it accessible to people. I wanted to film on the shores of Lake Washington, but the weather has been putrid.  Drizzly or windy or cold…. I’ve braved some pictures nonetheless, but Wheel has not been one I’ve wanted to take on.

YOU WANT TO HAVE A WARM SPINE AND OPEN SHOULDERS TO SAFELY DO WHEEL.

So these are taken from the wonderfully toasty room at The Ashram.  A wonderful retreat from the nastiness outside. This post is a work in the making but I wanted to start on it, for I will be very busy with my internship the next few days, so I share with you what I’ve got thus far 🙂

I'd love to hear what you think :)
