While Theresa O’Malley considers herself, first and foremost, a Yoga Teacher, she is also a Physical Therapist Assistant and Medical Researcher. Theresa embarked on her yoga journey in 2000. Initially, she got “on her mat” for stress reduction. She quickly realized that her yoga practice evoked her life-long interest in gymnastics and dance. A fascination with meditation soon followed.
Theresa received her 200 YTT certificate in the beautiful state of Washington. She has trained in a variety of yoga styles such as Vinyasa, Power, Baptiste, Jivamukti, Iygengar, Bikram, and Yin, but she is increasingly drawn to the Freedom Style Yoga of Erich Schiffmann.
Theresa is committed to the importance of breath work, postural alignment, logical sequencing, and having FUN in her classes. Her extensive training in Anatomy and Therapeutic Exercise lends well to fostering safe and effective yoga classes.
Theresa strongly believes that the body is capable of great physical changes reciprocal to a bit of dedication, patience, and a well-rounded practice of Yin and Yang styles of Yoga. As a scientist, she is pleased (though not surprised) that experimental research is identifying specific cellular and metabolic changes that occur in one’s Yoga practice.
